IronCloud™ announces AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series processors

IronCloud™ announces AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series processors supporting up to 1600MHz DDR3 memory

Santa Monica, CA – November 15, 2011 – Cloud service provider IronCloud™ today introduced its new line of AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series processor-based series servers and turnkey private cloud platforms. These new state of the art infrastructure servers are optimized for high performance cloud systems, database, clusters and 3D visual effects animation in a server environment. By enabling 16 cores on one processor, users can configure up to 32 cores per 2-way server, utilizing up to 128GB of DDR-3 memory per node. With the IronCloud™ 1U Twin server, users can now configure 64 cores and 256GB of memory in 1U of space without purchasing 4-way systems.

The new Bulldozer Opteron 6200 chips, code-named Interlagos will bring unbeatable price-performance to cloud and virtualization environments. AMD claims approximately 84 percent performance advantage over Intel’s comparable Xeon. AMD has targeted these new processors to hosting companies and large cloud service providers.

-Up to 160% more cores to handle more VMs per platform and minimize datacenter space.

-Low cost per VM lets you deploy fewer physical servers as business needs scale up.

-73% more memory throughput to scale as your workloads grow.

“The world’s most technically savvy minds have recognized the price-performance advantages AMD has to offer the HPC community as evident by the Blue Waters supercomputer deployment and the HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards,” said Paul Struhsaker, corporate vice president and general manager, Commercial Business at AMD. “The HPC community demands scalable and strong floating point performance, high memory throughput and more cores for highly-threaded applications. It’s these exact requirements that helped influence the design of the new AMD Opteron processors.”

These AMD Opteron processor-based servers can be custom built using the online configurator at http://IronCloud.com. For turnkey private cloud systems, pre-installed with VMware vCloud Datacenter Services, please call or email for customized quotes.

Clients will soon be able to sign up for hourly, monthly, or yearly services for virtual platforms using a vast array of operating systems.

Cloud services to include, SaaS (Software as a Service), IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), and PaaS (Platform as a Service). Incorporating the unlimited potential of customized hardware, which are built and housed inside our data center, clients will be able to deploy a variety of operating systems and platforms based on their own requirements, using a number of browser based and terminal based applications.

SaaS (Software as a Service). Within minutes, clients can set up a LAMP stack to use a minimal hardware requirement, and as the needs arise, increase the hardware scale with a few clicks of the mouse.

IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). Many businesses are still purchasing their infrastructure separately including expensive hardware, storage, and network gear, getting it shipped to their office, installing their operating systems, then hauling it over to a data center and installing everything to get an infrastructure rolling. By sourcing all these services to one company, IronCloud™ can provide the hardware, operating systems, installation at our data center, and enable a client to focus on their core business.

PaaS (Platform as a Service). Need to test your applications on multiple platforms? With the PaaS service, you can test your applications on a variety of operating systems, prior to deployment.

IronCloud™ introduces servers running the new Intel® Xeon™ 5500 series processors

Put more brainpower in your server room. A new generation of intelligent processors, the Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5500 Processors have arrived. IronCloud™ introduces servers running the new Intel® Xeon™ 5500 series processors. The processors can be configured using the online SysBuilder to build an array of server platforms.

The Intel Xeon processor 5500 series automatically and intelligently adjusts server performance according to your application needs. So you’ll get maximum performance when you need it and gain big energy savings when you don’t. And when you need greater IT control, you can manually configure performance and power settings whenever you want.

But how can Intel Xeon processors offer both increased performance and energy savings? The answer: Intel Intelligent Power Technology. It reduces energy costs by up to 18% over single core servers by automatically putting processor and memory into the lowest available power state while still delivering the performance you need. Big performance. Up to a 9x the performance of single core servers and 2.25x the performance of current quad core servers1 with the new Intel Microarchitecture, codenamed Nehalem, So you get the exact amount of processing power that you need for your workload.

The energy savings don’t stop there. You’ll discover even further reduced costs thanks to best-in-class virtualization, which allows you to group different generations of Intel Xeon server processors within the same pool. So you’ll experience peak performance when demand is high and reduce your energy costs when it’s low.

Base your consolidation projects on the new Intel Xeon Processor 5500 today. You can achieve a 9:1 server consolidation ratio over single-core servers while reducing operating costs up to 90%, resulting in an estimated 8-month return on investment.

Accelerates performance. Saves energy. Brilliant.
